Der Sommer kann kommen! Es macht immer Spaß nach vorne zu schauen und zu sehen, wie viele aufregende, interessante und mitunter regelrecht verrückte Veranstaltungen in den nächsten Monaten in Berlin stattfinden werden.
Für Kultursüchtige gibt es die •Lange Nacht der Museen (27.08.2011), die in diesem Jahr "Musik" zum Thema hat. Über 100 Museen sind an Berlins kulturellster Nacht des Jahres beteiligt, die die Mutter aller Museumsnächte der Welt ist. Außerdem gibt es noch die •Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften (28.05.2011), bei der fast 70 wissenschaftliche Institutionen in Berlin und Potsdam mitmachen.
Festivals und Straßenfeste gehören ebenfalls zum festen Bestandteil des Berliner Stadtleben. Vom 10.06. bis 13.06.2011 findet der Karneval der Kulturen statt, bei dem die 4.000 Teilnehmer – von brasilianischen Samba- und chinesischen Löwentänzern zu den westafrikanischen Trommlern und der Berner Karnevalsband – die fast 1,5 Millionen Zuschauer begeistern werden. Alle sind sie hier, um eines zu zeigen: Berlins Reichtum ist seine Vielfalt und Internationalität.
Am 21.06.2011 feiert Berlin mit der •Fete de la Musique den World Music Day. Die Musiker, Sänger und Künstler fordern jeden zum Ansehen, Zuhören, Tanzen und Mitmachen auf.
Im Juni wird Berlin rosa, denn vom 18. bis 19.06.2011 findet das •19. Lesbisch-schwule Stadtfest mit einer Reihe von Veranstaltungen und Konzerten rund um den Nollendorfplatz statt. Die Musik wird laut sein, die Bühnenshows extravagant und die Küche international. Und am Wochenende darauf ist dann •Christopher Street Day – mit einer Karnevalsparade und einer Menge Berlin Pride Events.
Für Sportfreunde findet am 30.07.2011 die •Vattenfall City Night mit 10.000 Läufern, Power-Walkern, Rollstuhlrennfahrern und Inline-Skatern statt. Sie alle sind auf 5- oder 10-km-Rennen unterwegs und tausende Zuschauer werden die Rennstrecke im Stadtzentrum umzäunen.
Und für die Studenten von IH Berlin PROLOG gibt es in unmittelbarer Nähe der Schule viele Dinge, die man genießen kann:
Zum Beispiel die Eisfee, ein einlandendes Eis-Café in der Kolonnenstraße, das man für eine Süßigkeit nach der Schule ansteuern kann.
Den besten Kaffee in Schöneberg findet man hingegen gleich um die Ecke der Schule in der Akazienstraße: im Da Capo und im •Double Eye.
In der Akazienstraße gibt es ebenfalls eine Vielzahl von Restaurants und Cafés. Also, wenn du für indische, italienische, jamaikanische, mexikanische, tibetanische, vietnamesische oder deutsche Küche schwärmst, musst du überhaupt nicht weit laufen.

Let the summer begin! It's always fun to look ahead and see just how many exciting, interesting and occasionally downright weird events will be taking place in the city over the next few months.
For culture vultures, there's the • Long Night of Museums (27.08.2011) which this year has “Music” as its theme. Over 100 museums are taking part in Berlin' most culture-filled night of the year and the mother of all museum nights around the world. There is also a •Long Night of Science (28.05.2011) with almost 70 scientific institutions taking part in the event in Berlin and Potsdam.
Street parties and festivals are also an established feature of Berlin city life. The • Karneval der Kulturen (10.06.-13.06.2011) will see almost 1.5 million people joining the 4000 participants from Brazilian Samba and Chinese Lion Dancers to West African Drummers and the Bern carnival band – all are here to prove one thing, that Berlin's wealth is in its diversity and internationality. Berlin's •Fête de la Musique (21.06.2011) sees the city celebrate World Music Day with musicians, singers and performers taking to the streets inviting everyone to listen, see, dance and join in!
June also sees Berlin turn Pink with the • 19th Lesbian Gay City Festival (18.-19.06.2011) and its series of events and concerts around Nollendorfplatz. The music will be loud, the stage shows extravagant and the food international. The following weekend is •Christopher Street Day, with a carnival parade and lots of Berlin Pride events taking place.
For athletes there is the •Vattenfall City Night (30.07.2011) with 10,000 runners, power walkers, wheelchair racers and inline skaters taking to the streets in 5 and 10km races and thousands of onlookers lining the route through downtown Berlin.
And for students at IH Berlin PROLOG there's also lots to enjoy around the school! There's Eisfee, a delicious ice cafe on Kolonnenstraße to head to for an after-school treat. The best coffee in Schöneberg can be found at Da Capo and •Double Eye just around the corner from IH Berlin on Akazienstraße. Akazienstraße is also home to a multitude of restaurants and cafes, so if you fancy Indian, Italian, Jamaican, Mexican, Tibetan, Vietnamese or German cuisine, you won't have to walk far!
